Hamen/Guides

Listen with context

Binaural beats,
explained carefully.

Start with the mechanism. Build a practical routine. Keep the evidence limits visible. These guides connect what Hamen plays with what research can—and cannot—support.

Editorial standard: Hamen is a general-wellness app, not a medical device. A guide can explain acoustics, summarize mixed evidence and suggest a routine; it cannot promise that a frequency treats a condition or guarantees a state.

01 · Pick your question

Start with the decision you need to make.

I am winding down

Can binaural beats fit a sleep routine?

Read the sleep evidence, headphone alternatives, timer guidance and a short low-volume ritual.

I am working

Which sound creates less distraction?

Compare rhythmic audio, noise and ambience, then build a clear work block without productivity promises.

I see a Hz number

What does this frequency actually mean?

Separate the beat rate from the carrier, the EEG label and named tones such as 432 or 528 Hz.

I need speakers

Do I need headphones?

Learn why binaural requires left-right separation and when isochronic, pulse, pure tone or noise is the better choice.

02 · Guide library

Five substantial answers.

03 · How to read a claim

Four labels keep different kinds of knowledge apart.

Established acoustics

How sound is produced.

Left-right carriers, amplitude modulation and spectral balance can be described precisely.

Mixed human evidence

Studies exist but disagree.

Methods, participants, audio and outcomes vary, so a universal conclusion is not justified.

Early research

A signal worth studying.

Small or limited studies may be interesting without supporting a broad product promise.

Intention-based tradition

Meaning without medical proof.

Named tones can be a creative or cultural ritual without being called a healing frequency.

04 · Product truth

What Hamen currently does.

Hamen offers 79 sessions across nine listening pathways. Beat presets can use binaural or isochronic modes; pure-tone presets can use steady or pulse modes. The app also includes color noise, two selectable ambient beds, tone and ambient levels, a timer, search, favorites, recent history, five-day plans and platform-native widgets.

Not every session supports every mode. Hamen does not currently provide arbitrary custom-frequency entry, named saved mixes, sleep-stage tracking, an adaptive generative engine, a web player or a medical result. Future ideas live on the roadmap with an explicit “not available” label.

05 · Beyond Hamen

Sometimes another app is the better fit.

Brain.fm is stronger for functional music across web and desktop. Moongate publicly documents more Apple-first soundscape, playlist and timer depth. Anima offers 8D audio, ASMR and more interface languages. Endel adapts generative sound to context. BetterSleep is a broader sleep suite.

That is why our comparison hub names the best fit for each use case instead of claiming Hamen wins every row.
